What not to do when installing shiplap wall panels?

Don’t skip the furring strips for exterior installations. You need to make sure your wall lies flat, too. They’re so important to make sure the panels sit flush against the wall. Don’t use regular steel fasteners if you’re installing thermally modified wood panels on an exterior wall. You need stainless steel fasteners because the wood is more acidic and the fasteners will be exposed to the elements.
